About
I began photography at a young age. I bought my first camera when I was 12 years old and have been taking pictures ever since. When I was old enough to attend college, I studied photography at the Minneapolis College of Art & Design. Within a year of my schooling I was represented by a galley and was showing regularly.
Much of my work relates to, or is inspired by, the work of other artists. I am primarily interested in the graphic nature of the photographic image, as well as integrating color as a design element. I have been influenced most by de Stijl and the post-painterly abstractionists. I am interested in movements in painting such as hard edge, minimalism, and color field. Some of the people I admire most are Piet Mondrian, Kenneth Noland, Morris Louis, and Frank Stella.
